Ensemble+ invites you to a one-of-a-kind musical feast, featuring classical masterworks alongside music created on the spot and inspired by you. A word, a story fragment, a melody, an object—any prompt from the audience can become the seed of a new work, unfolding before your eyes and ears. Their improvisatory approach combines structure with spontenaity, virtuosity with playfulness and business with pleasure. Expect Mozart, Schumann, Gershwin and a generous dose of fun!

Lecture- recital for METRIC

Ensemble+ presented a lecture-recital for METRIC exploring improvisation within classical performance practice.
Combining discussion with live musical examples, the event examined the relationship between structure and spontaneity in repertoire, the historical role of improvisation in classical music, and its benefits for performers and audiences, including heightened engagement, flow, and creative interaction.
The lecture reflected Ensemble+’s mission to reintroduce improvisation as a living and collaborative element of contemporary classical music-making, concluding with an audience Q&A.

Members of Ensemble+ presented a programme featuring Robert Schumann’s Frauenliebe und -leben, with improvised enhancements woven throughout the performance.
These spontaneous additions expanded and illuminated Schumann’s musical language, creating new textures, transitions, and moments of interaction while remaining rooted in the character of the original works. The concert explored how improvisation can deepen engagement with the classical repertoire, bringing a sense of immediacy, dialogue, and discovery to the performance experience.

Ensemble+ led a workshop for the ITI Department at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, exploring ensemble improvisation as a tool for communication, collaboration, and creative freedom.
Working with students from across the department, the session focused on listening, spontaneity, collective decision-making, and the balance between structure and play within group performance.
The workshop reflected Ensemble+’s ongoing interest in improvisation not only as a musical practice, but as a shared language that fosters connection, curiosity, and imagination across disciplines.

Ensemble+ was delighted to participate in the Royal Opera House’s Family Sunday series, presenting two interactive and educational concerts for children and their families. The programme combined elements of classical music with playful, audience-led improvisation, inviting young listeners to shape the music in real time.

As part of a project led by NW Live Arts, the ensemble joined musicians from diverse traditions, including Kora player Sontou Susso and Daegeum player Hyelim Kim, for a cross-cultural concert at Kings Place. Ensemble+ participated in workshops and creative sessions with individuals experiencing homelessness in the lead-up to the performance, working together to share stories and co-create music.
